APPEARANCE
Hunter looks like a train wreck most of the time. He's very boney, with little fat or muscle underneath skin, enabling him to act like a coat hanger. Never standing to his full 5'7, he likes to live shadowed by a backpack and his mane. His hair is naturally blackish, either cut in a very emo-esque style or grown out and tied neatly back. Currently, his hair is cropped in layers and short. A piercing dots his lips, complimented with a pair on his earlobes. Light grey-blue pools swirl in a sea of white, framed by a black border (he wears glasses) and pale skin.
Dress-wise, it's either white t-shirts and blue jeans, cargo pants, or his various pairs of gothic pants. Sometimes, he'll find a quirky streak in him and wear his neon-duct taped pants. He likes dark colors: black complimenting grey complimenting red with hints of white sprinkled among the articles. Sometimes, he'll wear a red scarf.
PERSONALITY
Music.
Music. Music. Music.
Hunt is all about the music, the notes, the tempos, and the life it breaths into him. He's always plugged, whether it gets him in trouble or not. He'll listen to almost anything, his favorite varying between Indie Rock to European Metal to Adult Alternative. He will always enjoy the subtle sounds of instruments. He plays a variety himself.
Besides that, Hunt is a complicated person. He identifies most easily with the goths and emo stereotypes, disliking anything to do with the scene kids. Socially, he's longs to be with people. Quite, but warm, he loves physical contact and wants hugs and a friendly voice more than anything else. He's a romantic type, dreaming of giving everything a girl would want. Unfortunately, he's shy, quite, and extremely social awkward.
On a darker note, he feels very broken inside. He has a history of therapy, restraint, various attempts of suicide, and cutting. When angry, he's taken out various people, using knives and rope. He was also "bullied" in elementary school. Depression usually clouds his days.
He's been told he's gifted, which would explain why he entered high school a year younger than the rest. He excels in nearly every subject, which is why he did so poorly Freshman year. He can identify with older kids, mostly seniors, younger kids (middle schoolers), and adults easier than his own peers. He also develops obsessions to fill his time. Some may call him a perfectionist, but he really doesn't see how that fits him.
Favorite Subjects: Tech, Music (picked up flute freshman year), and Math
Hated Subjects: Science, Art
HISTORY
The Parents
Sarah Eligien and Markus Kent married in their last years of college. Sarah, who majored in Classical English Studies, found Markus, a biology student, when a man harassing her a late spring evening. It was that evening that Markus They spent about three months together, both completely devoted to each other, when they found that Sarah was pregnant with Hunter. The pregnancy resulted in Sarah's strict-Christian family disowning her and Markus's family refusing to help them either. Both families thought Markus had gotten Sarah pregnant. Markus took it upon himself to drop out, working to pay for Sarah's college on the wish that Sarah would marry him. She fully agreed. They had a small wedding with just friends and, five months later, Hunter was born.
Hunter
Hunter Dante Kent is the eldest child of two, the others being Megan. Hunter was Markus's uncle, the only person that decided to help them while Sarah was pregnant. He was also named after Dante Alighieri, Sarah's favorite classical author.
Hunter grew up in the suburbs of California before they moved to Indiana for middle school. In elementary school, because he was the odd duck, he was completely isolated from their society. In the meantime, Markus had gone back to finish two more years of biologic studies while Sarah had grown depressed. Hunter became a social outcast among his peers. On the other hand, for better or for worse, his teachers had tested him and told his parents that he was gifted. Sarah, who was fighting the depression at the time, agreed hastily, wishing that they do whatever they thought was best for little Hunter. That put him through the TAG program and he was removed for two hours with a private tutor.
Ms. Yeager was Hunter's only friend throughout his elementary years. By the time Hunter reached 5th grade, he spent most of the day with her instead of his peers. His world came crashing down when his father announced that they were moving to Indiana for a research job. Still today, Hunter vows to travel back and find Ms. Yeager.
For his middle school years, Sarah decided to quit her job to spend time taking care of her children. For the first time in a long time, the family was financially and mentally stable. She was well enough to home-school Hunter, giving him a laptop and taking him around to further advance his studies. Megan was sent to school after a year of homeschooling because she wanted to be with friends.
Hunter's relationship with his mother is extremely strong and very friendly. He wishes nothing more to please his family.
When his teenage years hit, things took a turn for the worse. He re-entered school at 8th grade because his mother needed to work again. There was a strong sense of alienation, as well as an endless pit of despair. He felt like there was something he did to make his mother go back to work and the move to Indiana. He also learned that he was a loved "accident" that caused his parents disowning. At this point, he grew extremely obsessed with death.
He broke down during the middle of the year. He's tried three attempts at suicide, started cutting, and went through a violent streak, causing a kid to end up in the hospital. Under various suggestions, he went through various therapy sessions, which caused him to wall up against his parents and his therapist.
Currently, he's been trying to get himself to stop lying to both adults, as well as re-enter society once more. He clings dearly to his family and whatever friends he can get.
Goals/wishes:
- He wants a girlfriend he can care for
- He wants to know his meaning in life
- He wishes to get into college
WRITING SAMPLE
Cold. It was so cold, the water.
"Holy crap! Mom! The heater's broken again."
There was a quick pounding of feet and the door flew open to the bathroom.
"What Megan?"
Hunter yelped and snatched the shower curtain around his naked waist.
"MOM! REALLY?"
His mother's face morphed into utter shock, slammed the door shut, and silence held her voice. The water fell in falls on his back and he hissed. Cold. Cold. Cold. Slowly, a build up of laughter was heard from outside the door.
"Alright, Dante. I'll get that worked on asap."
The shuffle of feet disappeared down the hallway. With a grumble, he pushed the shower head towards the handle and nestled himself into the corner, his arms folded around his naked legs. He sat there until he saw the heat rise from the glistening drops. Finally.
A towel wrapped around his skinny waist, he opened the door to let all the steam out. Megan's alarm went off with a bang. A quiet moan escaped through the thin walls of the apartment.
'Probably going back to sleep, as always.'
With that, he shook his hair out, took out his toothbrush, and started the daily grind.
