Sports! --- Cheerleading All cheerleaders are dancers. Cheerleading also includes stunt routines and tumble routines. The following is a brief description of each position:
- Flyer -- Gets thrown into the air and flies.
- Bases -- Holds the flyer up in the air, throws them into the air and catches them when they land.
- Backspot -- Stands behind the flyer to help hold the flyer when needed.
- Tumblers -- All of the complicated tumbling routines, like back handsprings, are done by the tumblers. They do not fly. They do their stunts from the ground.
- Pyramid -- These are the two-tier and three-tier routines where bases hold up other cheerleaders who sometimes hold up the flyers into a pyramid-shape, or with five on the bottom, three in the middle and one on top.
For the purpose of this game, there are a pair of tumblers and a pair of flyers. The pyramid girls are bases and otherwise dances. Those without a position do not have a specified position, but work where they are needed.
--- Football Football at Arcadia Hills High is played American-style. There are two teams and each team has eleven players on the field. Each team stands facing one another across a specified line and completes a play. The following is a brief description of each position in the offensive line. The offensive line means that the home team is in possession of the football.
- Center -- performs the normal blocking functions of all linemen and is the player who puts the ball in play by means of the snap.
- Offensive Guard -- the two guards are the offensive linemen directly on either side of the center and inside the tackles.
- Offensive Tackle -- the offensive tackles play on the outer side of each guard, blocking on both running and passing plays.
- Tight End -- plays next to the tackle, serving as both a blocker and a pass receiver.
- Wide Receiver -- they catch passes, usually running to an open spot to draw the quarterback to throw them the ball.
- Fullback -- positioned behind the middle of the line, a fullback may do some running, some blocking, and some short receiving.
- Running Back -- carries the ball on most running plays and used as a short-yardage receiver.
- Quarterback -- the one who has possession of the football when the ball is snapped between the center's legs.
For the purposes of Arcadia Hills High, the only positions defined are quarterback, wide receiver, running back and tight end. The positions marked as offensive line refer to center, offensive guard, offensive tackle and fullback positions.
The following is a brief description of each position in the defensive line. The defensive line means that the opposing team is in possession of the football.
- Defensive End -- the two players on opposite ends of the defensive line; their function is to stop the passer and offensive runs to the outer edge of the field.
- Defensive Tackle -- the linemen between the defensive ends; their function is to rush the passer and stop running plays in the middle of the field near the line of scrimmage.
- Nose guard -- the middle guard in the defensive line; their function is to stop running plays down the middle and draw double teams.
- Linebacker -- the players behind the defensive line; their functions include rushing the passer, covering receivers and defending against a run.
- Cornerback -- the two players who cover the wide receiver.
- Safety -- the last line of defense; their function is to help cornerbacks with deep-pass coverage.
For the purposes of Arcadia Hills High, there are no defined positions on the defensive line. Each character may define their position, but otherwise they are open for any defensive play that needs to be made.
The following is a brief description of each position in the special teams. Players in the special teams are units on the field during kickoffs, a kick return, punting, punt block and return, field goal and extra point and a field goal blocking team.
- Kicker -- handles kickoffs, field goal attempts and punts.
- Holder -- holds the ball in place for the kicker. The holder may be a backup quarterback.
- Long snapper -- specialized Center who snaps the ball directly to the holder or punter.
- Kick returner -- returns kickoffs; their other function may be a wide receiver or cornerback.
- Gunner -- a player on the defensive end of kickoffs; their function is to attempt to tackle the kick or punt returner.
For the purposes of Arcadia Hills High, the only defined position for Special Teams is the Kicker. All others are players drawn from other parts of the team, such as the cornerback and backup quarterback.
